Just 13 nautical miles from Valencia, 77 from Ibiza and 120 from Mallorca, VMG is located in the historic Port of Sagunto, 25 minutes from Valencia international airport and close to the vibrant center of its city. Excellent connections by road, rail and air to all parts of Spain and direct flights throughout Europe, as well as a wide variety of services and multiple entertainment options.
VMG was founded in September 2020 by the Ibaizabal Group, whose roots trace back to the historic Naviera Aznar and more than 160 years of activity in the maritime industry.
Throughout its history, the Group has combined shipowning and maritime services with a strong involvement in the shipyard industry. In 1900, Eduardo Aznar, together with other partners, founded the Euskalduna shipyard in Bilbao, initially focused on ship repair and maintenance and later developing into one of Spain’s leading commercial shipbuilders. Euskalduna subsequently expanded through the acquisition of the shipyard S.A. Juliana Constructora Gijonesa in Gijón in 1956, before becoming part of Astilleros Españoles (AESA) in 1969.
This industrial heritage is reflected in VMG today, continuing the Group’s longstanding involvement in vessel repair, maintenance and technical services. The Ibaizabal Group also remains active across the wider maritime sector, including crude oil and LNG transportation, fuel oil and LNG bunkering services, towage and mooring, offshore services, and the operation and management of owned and third-party vessels.
